Great news today: Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas has been nominated for an Annie Award for Best Animated Special Production. All the other shows and people nominated are amazing. I look forward to February 4th !

Quiet end of summer yet still productive

The past 2-3 years have been the most rewarding. I won't get into the details of my personal life, but on a career level, it was fun to go through all the recent challenges. Moving to Vancouver a year ago was a big game changer. It is very refreshing to experience other parts of this gigantic and beautiful country, something all Canadians should do. It also makes the trip to visit the family very emotional and special.

It had been a while since I wanted to try out some animation on my own, not job or school related. It is so hard to keep doing personal projects once we start a full time job. I don't think it is a matter of time. We always have time, it's up to us to manage our life so we can do the things we want to do. It's more an issue balance. We love what we do, we give it everything we've got and once we come out the studio doors, the creative muscles need a break!

I had a little more time on my hands these past two months to try out a little animation of my own. Here is the last version. I hope you enjoy it!

In the past couple of months, I haven't posted any updates because I have been busy working on the most terrific animation contract: Open Season 3! I intend to start some new personal shots when I come back from Siggraph (next week!!!) and I am looking forward to post them here for your very precious feedback!

As you might have noticed, I have been taking it easy since the beginning of the month. I decided to take a break until the New Year. Since AM finished, I had not allowed myself to rest properly. I am looking forward to getting back to my shot and more life drawing in 2010!
