teaser and trailer!

This Fall will be a busy and beautiful one in terms of animated movies. I've had the pleasure to work on two marvelous ones. Why not see both? :)

A year ago I started working on a very special movie. The Book of Life is a film directed by Jorge Gutierrez and produced by Guillermo Del Toro. It's a beautiful tale with a very unique, bright and festive visual style. I am looking forward to see the final version! Coming out on October 17th

. ...and for the curious, I worked on shots at 1 min/ 1:06 and 1:20/1:24

At the end of February I got an opportunity to come and join the animation team at Disney and work on the new animated feature Big Hero 6 coming out on November 7th.  I won't say anything else, have a look at this most appealing teaser:

Adding a prop to balance a pose

I love it when the model includes a prop in the pose, definitely adds to the story. Sometimes they get adventurous and take poses that are off-balance, relying on the prop not to fall, those are hard...I always have a little fear the model might get hurt.  Great challenge for sure though!

Fluidity and rhythm

I love it when the model makes a pose that's challenging from every angle. This week's model had such rhythm and fluidity, quite inspiring! Below a one minute pose, 3 mins poses and the last three drawings are 5 mins.

Life drawing

One thing I enjoy from our life drawing classes on Thursday at work is the variety of models/body types. No matter what, it's always best to start with the basic for any type of shape. Without the line of action, basic structure, everything falls apart. First two pictures are 3 minutes, last two are 5 mins.

life drawing

It's starting to get busy at work, so had to skip last week's life drawing... Nothing much to say except it was a fun class, and I hope I don't miss to many of them. I apologize for the big black stripe, those are pictures of 18" x 24", 5 mins poses.
