This week's assignment for my character design class was to draw two dragons: à la Ronald Searle (St Trinian's School, Molesworth and so much more) and à la Jay Ward (Rocky & Bullwinkle, Peabody and Sherman, Dudley Do-Right, etc). It was a pretty humbling experience considering their legacy. I felt like a terrible impostor trying to emulate Ronald Searle's because he had such a personal and unique way of seeing the world. (If you are a fan, feast your eyes on this project: https://www.facebook.com/theanimatedmolesworth?ref=hl) Jay Ward's isn't a piece of cake, but it was a style that catered towards television production hence many people would be drawing in that style. A different mindset for each, lots of fun and tons to learn!
