The Conductor in color and in action

I just finished my 2nd CGMA character design class with Nate Wragg. It's been an enligthening process to take an idea and develop it to make it "animatable". Through the course of the eight weeks, the character evolved as I explored design changes and tweaks that would reflect his personality. I also explored digital painting for the first time... it's a whole new world!  Below are a drawing of the conductor in color and him in full action with his orchestra.

This term in my CGMA class, our project assignment revolved around developing a character for animation. We worked on multiple types of drawings that are required when creating a character. Below are a character turn-around, some facial expressions and poses that show personality traits/hobbies/etc. I am very fond of orchestral music and I thought it would be fun to draw a conductor. I used to work in animation for television and I remember doing those kinds of drawings (on real paper...with real pencils...on a light table!). It brought back many great memories.
